The Little Mermaid is based on Disney’s 1989 animated film and tells the story of Ariel, a young mermaid who falls in love with the human Prince Eric and dreams of life on land. Desperate to pursue her dream, she makes a dangerous bargain with the sea witch Ursula, trading her voice for a chance to become human. As Ariel navigates life on land, she must win Eric’s love before time runs out, or risk becoming Ursula’s prisoner forever.
The musical features Menken and Ashman's iconic songs from the original film including "Part of Your World," "Under the Sea," "Poor Unfortunate Souls," and "Kiss the Girl." The stage adaptation adds several new songs such as "Her Voice" and "If Only." Since opening on Broadway in 2008, The Little Mermaid has delighted audiences worldwide with its enchanting music, creative staging, and timeless message of following one’s dreams.
